This Week’s Featured Willowgreen Resource:
One You Love Is Dying: 12 Thoughts to Guide You on the Journey

It was a number of years ago that I realized very little had been written as a guide for family members of the dying, or for the dying themselves. That led to my gathering five people from around the U.S. and Canada to develop ideas for what might be communicated to these two groups of people. We spent a long weekend in my home in marathon creative sessions. Then I put everything together in the months that followed, keeping all five people in the loop as I wrote each chapter. I’ll always be grateful for their generosity. I recently re-read One You Love Is Dying: 12 Thoughts to Guide You on the Journey. Some books don’t hold up well through the years. I believe this one does.

Referring to this book, Holly Book recently wrote:

Filled with tremendous insight and deep compassion, Jim’s guide for those on this final  journey with a loved one is an essential companion. The twelve thoughts in this book offer clarity, wisdom, and many  drops of grace to support and navigate the waters of caring for a loved one who is coming to the end of their life.

Holly Book, M.T.S. is with Church of the Common Ground, Atlanta, Georgia.

Recently I lost my Aunt Rene and most folks have plenty of Aunts, she was my last. She raised me in Scotland and it continued when we came to this country.
She did have a good long ride, but guess I feel like I am still on the bike with her. At 60, I guess I should take the transition better.
She was surely worth a couple of days of feeling empty and lost to a degree and the video reminds me that God will in time, pick me of the ground and point me in the correct direction.
Maybe the video was his way of telling me that yes, it was a good ride, but your journey is not quite over.
