    The word “essence,” with its Latin root “esse” (“to be”) and with its various denotations and connotations in English, comes to my mind. I think also of a word of Persian origin, “attar,” as in the phrase “attar of roses.” The image you’ve found for your thought is not only beautiful but (to my experience) true.
